I'm not in marketing or advertising but if I were then I would assume my purpose in life was to give my brand appeal, create desire for my product and the bottom line get people to pay a price premium for my product.
Create that brand appeal so that when I want a coffee I think Starbucks and be willing to pay 5 dollars for one. When I need a new telephone I think Apple and be willing to pay $1000 dollars for a machine I can use to talk to someone. When I need to get from A to B by flying I think Delta. When I need a new car I think BMW.
There are other products out there who offer the same service but I would be successful if people were willing to pay $1.20 for my product instead of $1 for my competitors. The price premium, even if my product was in fact inferior, created by my marketing team managing to convince everyone to buy my product. Create that aurora of luxury, sophistication, reliability, customer service and style.
I would immediately fire my entire marketing department. WTF is this for ?
