The car isn't cheap. You should not have to learn to like it. Can you learn to like an ugly broad? I guess. But why?
No doubt. I have a similar challenge with my M4CS. It's perfect looking, makes good power, but it's DCT, which is a hyped up automatic transmission. At least I look at it every time I walk away. I miss my 6 speed E92 M3. Great styling and it made all the right noises, I could even live without the torque.

The G80 is a hard pass though, it could run a 9 second quarter mile and I'd still pass.
If you're looking at an M4 CS there is no hesitation. I have an M3 CS and the DCT is great it makes driving the car an event. Don't believe the bullshit that the ZF is as good. Not to mention the design of these cars is peak BMW.
The zf8 is better than the DCT imo.
Really? Interesting opinion. Do you have an opinion about when Ferrari, Lamborghini, McLaren and Porsche will abandon the dual clutch in favor of the superior ZF? Are you certain your "opinion" isn't influenced by what you own and spent your money on? These forums can be great but can also be echo chambers.
What do any of those cars have to do with BMW?!?!
That's a really silly remark that does nothing to advance the discussion. Just nonsense. You need it spelled out? You actually don't because you're just trying to obstruct. Here it is: BMW does not exist in a vacuum. ZF is not better than DCT; not in BMW world or anywhere else.
No, it's valid. Just because Ferrari, etc. aren't doing it doesn't make BMW's decision to jettison the DCT improper/invalid/ and it doesn't suggest there's no merit to going with the AT either. Extremely different focuses between the vehicles you referenced and BMW's target audience/objectives with a road going family car (…one whose AT transmission is 99% as good as the outgoing DCT).
Let me help you here. This is a BMW M3 we are talking about. You know….the descendant of the E30, E46, E92 etc. The fact that the 2021 BMW M3 Competition weighs 3800lbs, is the size of an older M6, and has no available manual or DCT is a direct result of people like you…the new "target audience" referring to the car as and expecting it to be a "family car". Wow. Just wow. An M3 is now a "family car" with a slush box only. And this insanity is being defended by the new "target audience". I really long for the days when this car was solidly for enthusiasts only and wish the new crop of buyers would just go away. If you want a family car keep Googling for the Accord forum. As an aside I have not even mentioned the horrid design of the car.
Let me help you out here: it comes with a 6 speed.
Help yourself and do your homework: NOT on the Competition. Nice try.
