Yes. The sales people get paid when they deliver cars. Unless you have a relationship or they have an available allocation it's not unusual to have a hard time getting a response as they figure best case scenario is 4-6 months so they focus on the low hanging fruit. I think you will find similar experiences for most high performance cars these days. Also, if you are trying to negotiate discount off MSRP that's going to hurt your chances big time as well.
