That's the current debate. Spending twice as much as the M3 and getting a new 992 is most likely outcome if M3 gets hit by the ugly stick. There is a dismal, sad part of me still holding out hope that somehow they tie it all together better than the concept and it looks good.
I traded my m3 for 2020 m550 as well and loving it. I think m550 does everything better except for track type of driving which most Ms sold don't do either.

However if I had the Porsche budget I would not hesitate to get a 911. I have test driven a couple and consider them great cars, and, yes, M has not beaten Porsche yet and I don't think they are trying actually (not that it would be an easy job for them).

Regarding prices I think all cars these days are getting overpriced trying to pay CEO bonuses and provide return on investment. I think it's time the car market crashes like the housing market does...
