Pretty does not sell at the high end. The goal is head turning ability. I think they know, especially among 'high end' buyers who will buy this car, that buyers want to stand out. They want something that is evocative. I suspect they are aiming at people who would buy the Lamborghini Urus.

High end ridiculous sport SUVs are a high margin sector and this design will probably sell well.
I agree with the high end looking strange and still selling, but I cannot see BMW breaking into that with this concept design. I equate it to Cadillac trying to beat the Germans in performance and losing all their old, reliable buyers, while not gaining any from BMW, Mercedes or Audi. At the high end, the people care more about the name plate, and I don't see BMW as having the cache to charge the $160,000+ for this (that is rumored).
