It's been almost four years now but the car Richard Griot bought in 2010 at an RM auction for $48,400 with buyer's premium included (with 69 miles -- M5board member BigGar sold a number of near zero miles M5s and Z8s in 2008-2010) sold at a
Gooding & co Pebble Beach auction for $176,000 (about $194,000 in 2022 dollars).
I think that still is the current record public auction sale so far.
