My F80 lease is up in March and I have just about every non-SUV M car in my sights, along with a non-BMW or two. I'm certainly a BMW fanboy, and my service center is just over a mile from my house, so while I am oft tempted to look elsewhere, I highly doubt I will.

I'll probably spend the next 6 months driving and struggling with my decision. The G8x should have been a nice mix of all the other current M cars, and it's close, but something is just sort of bothering me. No, I'm actually not horribly turned off by the grille, I saw the G80 in Isle of Man Green in person and was greeted by the grille head-on as I entered the tent, but I didn't really focus on it. It wasn't in the sense that I was trying to look away, I was more drawn to the color, the hard body lines, the seats, the wheels, etc.. I think the grille basically worked on the car, at least in that color.

My main issues are that I would rather a G82, but I like the look of the G80 better, and I would rather a white car (all of my BMWs have been, including the X7 sitting next to the current F80), but I like the look of the IoMG better.

I knew this all before the official launch, but seeing all of the options, while they interest me more since you can't get a lot of them for other M models (yet), they are really going to end up pushing the price of the car into the reach (within 10-20%) of an M5, a discounted M8 coupe (I'm seeing 20% discounts on 2020s all over the place right now), or a 'close to stripper' 992. I just really don't want any of those cars for their own reasons.

There's also the fact that I would rather AWD, but I won't be able to get that in March. So unless I could get an appealing and short lease takeover for an M5, M8, i8, or something else that interests me to hold me over until I could drive an MxD G82 and have a better idea on this and a few other cars, I'll probably end up overpaying for a G80 optioned all the way out sans-AWD, getting annoyed within a year or two, and getting a G87 M2C.
