Go (much) further back in time than the F82 .. to when BMW only offered silver (meaning all silver) rims, except for the E39 M5 and the E46/E9x M3. Most owners didn't bother cleaning their wheels properly, so they either became discolored over time or stayed charcoal from brake dust build-up.
Fast forward to the rim designs you see on 3, 5 and 7 Series sedans and X1 through X7 SAVs .. not a silver barrel to be found, and only a hint of polished silver on the rims' faces. |
Most people feel the brake dust is even more of an issue on the black wheels than on the silver. Are you arguing the opposite?
