In BMW's markets there already is a 5 series touring and the M5 touring if they made one would compete with the RS6.
The G81 is a natural competitor to the RS4 wagon that Audi sells in most markets. Just like the M3 sedan is a competitor to the RS4 sedan.

Because they don't make an M5 touring, and they don't sell the RS4 in the US. I agree the RS4 would be a competitor, or the M5 touring, but neither of those exist in the US.
My point was that I don't think they would struggle to find people willing to drop $100k+ on the M3 touring in the US, particularly if it was a limited run
