In BMW's markets there already is a 5 series touring and the M5 touring if they made one would compete with the RS6.
The G81 is a natural competitor to the RS4 wagon that Audi sells in most markets. Just like the M3 sedan is a competitor to the RS4 sedan.

I guess they would indirectly compete, because there is no RS4 sedan and no M5 touring. The only maker that offers a high performance wagon in both segments is AMG.
