The F87 CS is a part bin well put together car. From the surface, it may be "several years" between it's first seen or planned and out.

There is a schedule for everything, and the necessary tests are only performed when it's due. The car is out when timing is right, not when it's ready as possibly soonest.

95% or more of the R&D is already done when the base car is done.

The G82 CSL R&D and validation can be done in a few months or even weeks if necessary. The year of 2022 fits as a launch time, given the G8X product pipeline.
