Great video at the bottom of the post which reminded me of this.
There's an amazing bit of folklore here in Sydney, which is entirely true. A local guy bought one. Servicing was at a BMW dealer. One of the techs decided he'd take it for a "test drive". He pretty much wrote it off. Well any other car would be written off, but he inflicted a mere $1m worth of damage which is somewhat less than the car's value.
I saw the photos when it happened, published in the local paper. It was on a stretch of road near me which I enjoy rather a lot. I'll never forget that story. Nor the photos.

I always thought it was my local dealer that did the deed, not BMW Sydney. This would make a lot more sense given where the owner lived and the crash location. I'll have to ask them next service.
