Can this be explained by the gearing, or by multiple shifts required, or by the excessive turbo-lag ? For comparison M32015 M4 Manual and 2021 M4 Manual can hit that time in 4.6 and 4.7sec respectively, which is in the different league entirely. I keep eyeing this CT4 as my next car (because I am fed-up with BMW charging Ferrari-like prices for parts & labour), but I am afraid that this disappointing performance number will make the Caddy feel not much faster than my current 2014 M235i.

I would still take up the CT4. While its numbers may not be as impressive as an M3, its chassis, steering, suspension, and transmission are all superior and create a fantastic driving experience. If you want a more competitive 5-60 number, than the auto is your best option as that will bring it close to the M3 Comp, but to not get a manual in either of these Blackwings is sacrilege in my opinion.
