I had no idea they were building the G80 in Munich. Recall that the F80 was built in Regensburg with the F33 and F83. I had presumed that the tight coupling between the M3 and M4 was due at least partly to this shared assembly plant. But they are building it with the 3 Series now (as you would naturally assume would make the most sense).

Furthermore, the 4 Series Coupe and M4 Coupe have also moved from Munich to Dingolfing while the 4 Series Convertible has moved from Regensburg to Dingolfing. I wonder if the M4 Convertible will also be built there or if it will stay in Regensburg.

Some of this reshuffling could be related to the pandemic. But certainly there is obvious logic in building the 3 Series and M3 together as well as the 4 Series and M4 together. Maybe for next generation the M3 will finally be allowed to launch within twelve months of the 3 Series rather than waiting over two years to launch with the M4. Or maybe not.
