Bare, spartan interiors with the majority of controls becoming touch-only are a misguided direction. Why create - or even force - an environment where the driver has no choice but distract themselves while trying to operate a slide control? Imagine if the touch screen in this area became less sensitive. The driver would begin to tap the slide control with an even greater pressure and become more distracted.
Controls which reinforce muscle memory contribute to safety by a wider margin.
So far, Audi e-Tron interior embodies the better design approach.

We'll know EVs have truly arrived when they're no longer targeted at niche buyers and they're equipped and marketed the same as traditionally-powered automobiles.
