For me growing up and having owned a bunch of M3 generations, M3's were always RWD and real drivers cars. We always looked down on Audi and other 4WD cars as being less fun and a lot more more boring. Nothing like hanging the rear end out in a RWD car with no traction control!

Now that I'm a bit older, I can see the appeal of AWD especially in very bad climates. I could care less about drag racing times (I had to Google with 'the DIG' was ) but have done a lot of track driving and always associated AWD with bad understeer

If I had been offered both this time around I might have been tempted to consider AWD being in NY, but I have a winter wheel set up and the car is a weekend car that doesn't need to leave the garage ever if I don't want it to, so am quite happy with my car. Ask me again in February!
