I have never done this type of event, but seems very interesting. It is essentially a combination of track driving with autox timing, not quite a time trial though.
The course is set up on part of the track, so not lapping the full course. Standing start, running finish, best of 6-8 runs, possibly more.
The good parts of this format, for some, are:
- You are the only car running the course or at maybe 20-30 secs ahead of the next car, so no worry about passing or yielding or about slower/faster cars. Let the timing speak for itself.
- You don't have to worry about brake pads or fluids, because it is essentially a half-lap run and then you cool down waiting for your turn to run again. So, there isn't much of a stress on the car, not even the tires in this format.
- There are no work assignments as in autox. You just run
