I found a change of OEM shifter makes a huge difference, I've had the same issue with my F22's rubbery shifter feel. I swapped the stock one out with the M performance, and shifting felt more direct and precise. I ended up just getting the aluminum looking M Performance one for my G80, and it's produced similar improvements.
