I've had luck with higher mileage cars and great deals can be had on that side of the market. Make sure to have it properly inspected so you can make an informed decision and calculate cost of reconditioning and preventative maintenance.
Id suggest finding as much about the history of the car as you can, as
SteveinArizona said there could be something under the rug.
