Mine was in level 3 which is supposed to do nothing unless you drift...Initially i thought that its still might be doing something but other people reported killing the pads with everything off still...
As far as the compound of the rear break pads, believe me you have the most street compound BMW can find and will not make much noticeable difference if any between the X5 and M3/M4 rear pads... Personally I cant wait for hawk hp plus to be out with their pads for the M4!
