No idea on gas mileage. I take it easy while the car is getting up to operating temp and then enjoy the manual. 🙂
As for the different modes there are definitely throttle mapping differences between them and likely wastegate DC settings between modes as well. (This is why folks with JB4s are seeing more throttle closures in sport and sports plus versus comfort. The car overshoots boost targets quicker and results in more throttle closures)
