If you watch some of the manufacturer Ring time videos you will see their drivers on the limiter a LOT in certain sections when driving manuals. Typically this is because making the shift will cost more time than gained by the shift. I think it was the old Viper ACR video where he rode the limiter for what seemed like 3 minutes total in the video.

In other words, don't worry about it. It is impossible to damage a modern motor through use of the throttle. The maximum engine speeds are well above redline and the electronics keep drivers from getting anywhere near max.

Now a $$$$$ shift where you hit second instead of fourth while accelerating is a different discussion.
