Typically it's just to avoid the dealer staff doing any prep/washing etc upon arrival. They tend to ram cars through cheap car washes that can cause swirl marks etc.
Realistically, shouldn't make much of a difference since a full paint correction is done prior to the ppf install. That said, there is a risk of getting a rock chip on the way to the installer, so there's that also.
