Well here we go--- someone offered me 91k on my G80 Portimao Blue (Msrp 78k) so why not!!! But the love for the new chassis and the way the S58 delivers the power could not allow me to accept unless I had another G80 and this time preferably in AWD (something different). So I searched over the country and the only ones on the ground were 10k over or more and I wasnt playing that game.

Now I have been talking to Jimmy Miller, Internet Manager, at Steve Thomas BMW in Camarillo, CA for months about getting a car but they were all sold out. I got a random call from him last week saying the owner had a unique allocation not spoken for that was coming in. The caveat was that the owner did not want it presold and instead said it was a "first come when the car lands" gets the unit. So I played the gambling game based on the port release dates and showed up at 6am on the lot and took a timestamp photo marking me as the first one there (if the car showed that day). Well it did at 845am off the truck and went straight into PDI.

I can not say enough about how strong the service and communication was from Jimmy and the team at STBMW. If you are even remotely interested give him a call at 805 509 2048. Oh they sold me this car at MSRP!!! Aventurine Red has now entered my garage and I do think Im one of the first in the US with this color (G80) because Ive only seen Euro pics here. Its really dark in the shade with a nice metallic flake and lightens up tremendously in the sun. Its different for sure and rather polarizing but I like it. Another source here for Steve Thomas BMW is a well known member aka GOLFFRR

I have already removed the springs on the PB G80 along with the spacers and reinstalled them on the 2022 Aventurine Red car. Do I miss the PB- hell yes but I am also super pleased with this new AWD machine as well. It really does drive so similar to the RWD version with just a small bit of added weight which is negligible on the street. That beautiful touch and feel with the steering remains and of course, no wheelspin. I wont say the steering is exactly the same as it cant be with the extra drive up front but once again BMW has done a good job and I like it better than the steering in my F93 M8 or my previous F90 M5.

As always, thanks to Ben and Alo at RG Sport for doing the de part and re part with the 2022. r33_RGSport

Small mod list:

MSS HAS Springs
H&R Spacers 15mm square
Race Chip 91 octane Piggy
Tint to come (will post pics)
Thanks for the photos, looks great!!!
