The 228i and M235i don't share the same part numbers for at least dampers for any configuration of suspension. Even the 228i w/ adaptive suspension is not the same as the M235i with adaptive suspension. And as far as I know, the M235i is not available without adaptive suspension in the US. That is, unless you spring for the M Performance suspension.
So yes, there is a difference, but I couldn't tell you how much or in what way. The suspension in the M Sport is definitely upgraded from the base model, but how it compares to the M235i I wouldn't know.
