I didn't suspect the filter because it was changed weeks prior. I cleaned the vents, made sure the drains were clean, all with no benefit. I finally got the air filter out to get a better view of the system and the smell hit me. Replacing the filter fixed it and we keep the air recirculate on all the time in the summer.
