I'm not super knowledgable about engine mechanics, nor do I know the specifics regarding this recall, but since an oil pan drop was mentioned, this video came to mind. Maybe the work is something similar to this?
(Since I'm sure someone will comment, yes, I know it's not the same engine and possibly not the same issue addressed in the video, but maybe it's a similar approach to access the necessary components)
