Sure, the styling is a little over-the-top, and much of the buzz (which, by the way, is exactly what BMW wanted to generate -- good or bad) is focused on certain design decisions.
My biggest disappointment is that, with the 50-year anniversary and the second-ever ///M-only model, they decided to build a 2.5-ton M-bus.
Imagine if they had instead gone with a fresh take on the Z9 concept using the same hybrid powertrain as the XM and a modified M8 platform? Granted, this SUV will sell ten times as many units as a convertible, but ///M cars should be about motorsports and the pinnacle of performance, and we'd all be drooling about it. Leave the trucks to the X line.
