You need to be able to unlock your DME in order to flash a tune. This accomplishes that.
If the DME cannot be unlocked, then the only way is to tune is to hook up a piggy back box to the car to adjust DME parameters to make more power.
Flashing a tune is the "safer" way to tune a vehicle. With a flash tune, the DME can monitor and protect the engine in the event of an engine hardware failure since there is no tricky going on with a piggy back modifying signals going into the DME. Piggy backs have their own fail safes built in, but having the DME doing it is the preferred approach.
This is just the alpha stage. Successfully unlocking is just step 1 out of 1000. OBD unlock, defining the tuning tables, adding functionality to the DME that wasn't previously there, etc. would likely take years of development to fine tune and get right for the masses.
