BimmerLink lists the g8x as a supported platform
Do you know if your obd connector is compatible for the g8x? It may fit properly but the coding will not work if it's not designed with this car in mind

Also, are you afraid this could brick your ecu? I want to do it as well for a valve controller use-case but I'm paranoid I'll brick the ecu or void a warranty |
The other normal features like ASD, sensor values, data logging, all work as expected. So communication between the OBD port/Bluetooth adapter and the phone work fine.
I'll contact their support for advice which you can do by sending logs right from their app.
I have no concerns about using this App I've done it on my various F80s with great success.
