It’s tempting and understandable to want to execute fine and careful movements to protect the car, and that makes sense very early on when you’re initially looking for the clutch engagement point. I find the transmission feels best when I’m being a bit speedy, positive, and confident with my shifts and clutch work. Eventually, the muscle memory does come and avoiding juddering at launch (I like to take off with minimum revs) and lurching going from 1-2 becomes easy and natural.

My favorite 6-speed manual transmission to date is whatever they used in the 997 GT3 / GT3 RS. Essentially perfect sports shifter and clutch.
