This? Sucks.

At least the breaks were on the side of the valve I could shut off (although I apparently still have a little bit of a lake).

Sigh.
is your basement heated?
insulate your pipes, shut off any lines that feed to exterior hose bib/spigot

i just moved in to my first house, one of the exterior hose bib has a leak, slow drip. At one point i had a glacier right up to the tip of the hose bib. I cant find shutoff valve to repair hose bib, replacing the washer inside. i dont have a basement.
